Basic Make up & More
Hi beautiful ladies,
I think every woman is beautiful in her own way, inside and out. Every single one of us is special. You shouldn’t forget this.
I also consider that after you become more mature and you begin to have your own style, your own routine, you also get to have a basic makeup routine. I have one and I want to share it with you. It may not be the best you hear about, because I’m not a makeup expert but maybe it can help some of you as well.
I remember when I first started to use makeup (first year in university) and I had no idea about cosmetics, what products I should use, what is good for my skin and what is not. In time, I tried many many cosmetics brands and now I have a routine makeup and also know what products are good for my skin.
I am lucky to have a daughter and maybe when she’ll be old enough I will also teach her the basics. On the other hand, seeing me doing my makeup, I guess she will pick up on her own. If not, I would suggest the following to her:
The most important thing you have to do before applying any makeup is cleaning your face very good. If you do this the right way, your makeup will look MUCH better, and also it will last longer. To clean the skin I recommend to use dermatologist-approved products.
To achieve a supple skin I always need to moisture. After washing the face I apply the moisturizing cream and wait for a few minutes for the skin to absorb the lotion. After this I’m prepared for the next step.
This has the role to erase all of the skin imperfections: discoloration, large pores, smile lines, you name it. What I use and recommend is the POREfessional from Benefit. It is a little expensive, but it’s worth it. It’s silky smooth and it makes my skin look and feel soft. I’ve always been self-conscious of my skin, but this works wonders. Not only that, but it makes my makeup last all day. It works well on all skin tones and types.
I use concealer to cover any blemish I have on my skin. I dab it carefully over problem areas and then blend it with my fingertips. I like to use a concealer that is one tone lighter than my skin tone, to lighter the skin.
When you apply the foundation you have to keep in mind to use the right color for your skin type. If you use the wrong one, all your makeup could be a disaster…so chose the right color, it’s VERY important.
When I apply the foundation (depending how late I am) I use 3 types:
- my fingers ( to apply it OK, but not a WOW effect)
- a brush (not bad, perfect for every day, but also not a WOW effect)
- a beauty blender (this is really special, I am sometimes VERY impressed by how it looks. My only complain is that it takes more time to do it)
If you use and apply the foundation the right way the result can make you look years younger. 🙂 Trust me, I tried it.
The next thing I do after the foundation are my eyes. During the day I don’t like to use color, the only thing I use is black eyeliner. I think for a working day this is just enough for me. After this I apply mascara and curl the lashes.
I think beautiful eyebrows are essential. I use the eyebrow pencil every day. I follow the natural line of my brows using a color that is slightly lighter than my hair, this way it looks very natural and flawless.
I think this is an important product in every makeup case because if you use it right and contour your cheek bones, your face looks complete (at least I think mine does). I use blush with a bronze tone because I have white tone skin and so it looks very natural, don’t use to much (or too pink) it will look fake and unnatural.
To have a complete makeup you always have to take into account to take care of the lips. Sometimes I use only lip gloss, sometimes lipstick. If I go out or do something special I use a pencil to give a perfect line before applying the lipstick, this way it gives also more volume.
I hope this list helped you.
Thank you for stopping by.
PS: All the products you see here, are products that I use, love and recommend.
